Estevan Bruins scored early on Teddy Bear Toss Night

The Estevan Bruins held their annual Teddy Bear Toss during Saturday night's game against the Weyburn Red Wings.

ESTEVAN - It didn't take long for the Estevan Bruins to score in Saturday night's home game against the Weyburn Red Wings.

And it was even more significant because the game is the club's annual Teddy Bear Toss night.

Defenceman Felix Allard scored 2:07 into the first period. While the Bruins celebrated, fans tossed teddy bears and other stuff animals onto the ice.

The game was delayed for several minutes while Bruin players and others gathered up the bears and removed them from the ice. Several bags of bears were collected. They will be taken to the Estevan Salvation Army and distributed to people in the community.

A large crowd is attending the game between the Highway 39 rivals.

The Bruins and other hockey teams across the continent hold Teddy Bear Toss games before Christmas each year.
