The Board of Directors of the Weyburn Golf Club have announced the appointment of Brett Berkner to the position of general manager/head professional at the Weyburn Golf Course.

Berkner comes to Weyburn following three years as head golf professional/general manager at the Phantom Lake Golf Club in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Prior to that, Berkner spent time as headprofessional/general manager in Swan River, Manitoba, and assistant pro in Sundre, Alberta.

Berkner will be in Weyburn during the month of December, working at the golf course and operating the Christmas Store before joining the team full-time next spring.

The Weyburn Golf Club Christmas Store will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays starting December 1 and will close on Wednesday, December 22.

The Christmas Store is selling clothing and many other items, including gift certificates and voucher packs, sky caddies, and possibly "Graham Delaet" caps.

Those purchasing their 2011 golf membership during the hours the Christmas Store is open will receive their membership at the 2010 membership rate. After December 22, any memberships purchased will be at the 2011 rate, which will be approximately a three percent increase.

Winners of the Weyburn Golf Club Grey Cup and Super Bowl Pool contest were locals John Boychuk ($1,000), Nikki Herlick ($500), and Chelsea Jones ($250), and Kelly James ($250) of Lethbridge, Alberta.
