Weyburn Rider Nation will be playing host to members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders football club for a day dedicated to celebrating Rider Pride and supporting Weyburn Minor Football on February 13.

The day will include the Weyburn Rider Nation Touchdown Luncheon and the Rider Pride Hockey Challenge.

The Riders will trade in their cleats for skates to take part in the inaugural Rider Pride Hockey Challenge at Crescent Point Place. This epic hockey game will match up Rider players, alumni and/or coaches with a select team of locals, The WRN Generals.

The event will include two periods of action-packed hockey "skill" with an entertaining half-time show. An autograph session will be held at the rink from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., followed by the puck drop. Tickets go on sale on February 1 at Pharmasave and Canadian Tire and can also be purchased at the door. Tickets for adults are $10, children/youth are $5 and children under-five get in for free.

Luncheon attendees will be treated to an "ask us anything" community question and answer period with members of the Roughriders club. Special presentations and an auction of exclusive Rider memorabilia will also take place.

The event includes a mimosa bar, cocktails, wine and cheese from 12 to 12:30 p.m. followed by the lunch and program from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tickets are $50 per plate, which includes admission to the Rider Pride Hockey Challenge game.

All proceeds raised will go to Weyburn Minor Football.
