ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia Curling Club Board held is initial fall meeting on Sept. 21 in order to get a handle on the upcoming season, which is not far away.

First of all, the board decided to “hold the line” on fees for this winter but all such will be subject to the new PST regulations as set out by the Provincial Government. Ice will be officially ready to roll by Monday, Nov. 7.

Quentin Coghill will again be the ice maker but has given notice this will be his last season so the board is now looking for an “intern trainee” to work with him on a part time basis this winter to learn the ropes and be ready to take over next year.  If interested, please contact Bill at 306-640-9655.

Leagues offered will be similar to last season, with a few additional changes if sufficient interest warrants.

Monday night will again be the “Travelling League”.  Thursday evening is the “Competitive Recreation League”.  Monday and Wednesday afternoons are the Senior Curling time slots at 1:30 p.m.

If interested in any of these, registration night is set for Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Under Tess Arriss’s guidance, they are going to offer Tuesday evenings as our “drop in night” where people can come and try the sport, get in a little practice, or maybe get a little instruction.

Specific details are coming. Watch our social media websites for details.

Then on Friday evenings, the board is considering a six week block type of curling which is geared more to be a social type of setting with a little shorter games, maybe some pairs type curling, or stick, depending on the wishes of those interested and the time commitment would be a little less.

Please let us know of your interest!!

The ACC are offering a CurlSask  (with their instructors) “basic type clinic” for all ages on Saturday Nov. 12.

Clinics for ages five to 10 (Grade 1-4) will run from 4 to 5 p.m. Clinics for ages 11-18 (Grades 5-12) will run 5 to 6 p.m., and an open clinic for anyone else interested would run 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. To indicate interest, residents can email curlassiniboia@live.ca or phone the office at 642-5115 and leave your name.

The Club is starting the “Spiel Season” off with an Open Fun Spiel on Friday, Nov. 18 (evening) and Saturday, Nov. 19. Watch for more details on that one.

The advertising Signage invoices will be out early in October.  If you are not interested in continuing your support, please let Bill know in the office. But also, if your business is interested in such advertising either on the wall or in ice, please contact Bill in the Office at 642-5115. There’s lots of space. We have lots of activity throughout the season and this provides great exposure to your business and such support is greatly appreciated.

The yearly annual meeting for the Assiniboia Curling Club is set for Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. Enjoy the season!
