Sat., Jan. 15/11 - Bienfait - 6 at Wawota - 3 - Big Six

The Flyers took on one of the upper echelon teams in the Big Six Hockey League and played very well, leading 3 - 2 early in the second period only to see the dreaded Penalty Bug rear its' ugly head and take a huge bite out of the Flyers' backside. Kevin Lincoln opened scoring 7 1/2 minutes into the second, scoring for the Flyerson the power-play assisted by Ben Brown and Rob West. Bienfait replied 3 minutes later. Tommy Thomas pounded in a rebound, on the power-play with 1 1/2 minutes remaining in the first, with assists going to Fritz Sauter and Mike Bratton to give the Flyers a 2 - 1 lead after 20 minutes.

Bienfait knotted the score 3 minutes into the second before Kevin Lincoln, with his second of the night, scored off a scramble with Bratton assisting to give the Flyers a 3 - 2 lead, and then the penalties started. Bienfait scored 2 power-play markers late in the second to lead 4 - 3 after two periods. They added an insurance marker five minutes into the third and added another power-play goal with a minute left to take this one 6 - 3.

Ryan Potter had another solid game in the Flyers' net, but, as mentioned, it was penalties that caused the Flyers' downfall tonight. You can't take penalties in the Big Six - it shows on the scoreboard!
