Weyburn Comp Eagles still undefeated, wins 5A Rural South Football league title

The WCS Eagles will host Saskatoon's Bishop Mahoney in the provincial semi-finals next Saturday

The Weyburn Comp Eagles football team remained undefeated Saturday, as they downed the Yorkton Raiders 21-7 to claim the 5A Rural South Football League title for the first time since 2009, advancing them on to the provincial semi-finals.

The Eagles will host Saskatoon Bishop Mahoney next Saturday, Nov. 6, for the semi-finals and the right to play in the provincial finals.

Quarterback Ben Manning had a big game as he scored two rushing touchdowns and got two interceptions during this hard-fought game.

He would’ve had a third interception, but he batted the ball down instead.

Receiver Ben Michel had the third touchdown for the Eagles.

One of the plays which helped the Eagles was a field goal attempt by the Raiders that hit the uprights and bounced back onto the field.

The Eagles had a few penalties on the day, but the Raiders had some penalties that cost them dearly, with them looking at a third-and-30 position at one point after a penalty called on the bench.
