Weyburn cricket team holds clinic to each basics of cricket

People learned how to use a cricket bat or to bowl at free clinic

WEYBURN – Weyburn’s own cricket team, the Weyburn Kings held a free clinic on Aug. 6, at Jubilee Park, to help young people learn about the British sport.

The clinic was held at diamond No. 6, for boys and girls, men and women from the ages of nine to 25.

Organizer Prem Devadas along with several members of the Kings showed people the basics of cricket, and explain the rules of the game and how to use cricket equipment, such as how to bowl or use the cricket bat.

The clinic helped organizers gauge the level of interest in cricket, and they may hold more clinics in the future.

The Weyburn Kings have 11 players, and play in the Regina cricket league as there are no cricket pitches available in Weyburn yet. There are currently 25 teams in the Regina league to play against.
