The Weyburn Comprehensive School's senior boys basketball team celebrates a first place finish following a tournament in Moose Jaw. The boys defeated every team they went up against to bring home the trophy on Saturday.

It was another stellar tournament for Graham DeLaet at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, after he tied second place for the second straight week. "I have been playing well for the last few months," said DeLaet on a PGA Tour interview.

Secondary scoring was a primary concern for the CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins during the first half of the season. Not anymore.

The Estevan Apex Bruins played a lot of hockey on the weekend and came out of it with four points. The midget AA team faced a trio of sub-.500 teams on the road, beginning with a 7-4 loss to the Notre Dame bantam Hounds on Friday.

The Weyburn Junior High girls basketball team celebrate their first place victory after a home tournament on Saturday. The Cobras co-hosted the tournament with the St. Michael School Tigers, who they defeated by only two points in the semifinals.

After a tough January, the Estevan PowerTech Panthers started the month of February on a considerably better note. The midget AA team earned three of four points in a two-game set at home against the first-place Regina Capitals.

Southeast Connection Sport, Culture and Recreation District will be hosting Foreverin motion - Volunteer Leader Training on February 13, 14 and 15 at the Weyburn Credit Union - Community Room.

The Carlyle Cougars travelled to Lampman for a 6:00 regular league game. The Cougars bench was full as Alexander Bradley was snowing up the front of his net, getting ready for anything that came his way.

The Weyburn Synchro Stars attended the Diane Lemon Invitational Competition on January 25 and 26 in Saskatoon. The figure event was held Saturday and all athletes swam their personal bests.

The Weyburn Red Wings brought their winning streak to four with a 5-1 win over the Nipawin Hawks January 25. Coach Bryce Thoma said the team is playing well and hopes to continue the momentum.
