Estevan parade brought entertainment to many people

Many people turned out to watch the parade, which kicked off the four-day Energy City Ex.

ESTEVAN - The Energy City Ex. in Estevan kicked off Thursday afternoon with the annual SMILE Services Estevan Parade.

The parade featured numerous floats, classic vehicles and horse-and-rider tandems. Businesses and organizations were involved. Some people walked the parade route.

Many people turned out to watch the parade. Children eagerly waited for people to toss candy.

The parade started in the southwest corner of the city and worked its way to downtown Estevan. Many of the spectators watched from the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Fourth Street, or from in front of the Estevan Court House.

The Energy City Ex. started Thursday and will continue through Sunday. It will feature the fair and rodeo together for the first time in more than 20 years. Other highlights will include the annual domestics show at the Estevan Exhibition Hall, the crowning of a rodeo queen and a rodeo dance. Food vendors will be at the site.

West Coast Amusements is supplying the midway and the rodeo is sanctioned by the KCRA.
