Carol Kenneth Hingtgen

Carol Kenneth Hingtgen passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice Hingtgen; first wife, Lauretta Hingtgen; second wife, E. Jean Bowden-Hingtgen; brothers, Leonard (Jean) Hingtgen and Vernon Hingtgen; sister, May (Edgar) Conrad and brother-in-law, Don Flichel. Carol was born in RM of Key West on November 8, 1931 to Bill and Alice Hingtgen, their fourth child. Carol was born in and raised by a farming family and he himself became a farmer until his retiring in 1994, but once a farmer, always a farmer. On November 12, 1954 Carol married Lauretta Muriel Colwell in Ogema, SK. They lived together in Ogema for 39 years. Over their years of marriage, Carol and Lauretta enjoyed travelling through the United States, several camping trips, as well as trips to British Columbia. After her passing in 1993, Carol met and eventually married E. Jean Bowden on November 4, 1995 in Weyburn, SK. Carol and Jean lived in Weyburn from 1995 until 2003, at which time they moved to Regina until 2014. After Jean’s passing, Carol returned to Weyburn in 2015 until the present. Carol was an avid fan of the Blue Jays baseball team and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also was an avid fan of curling and watched many bonspiels over the years. He enjoyed fishing at his cabin at White Bear Lake and spending time with his three children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Carol enjoyed volunteering at the Ogema Museum before moving to Weyburn. While in Weyburn he volunteered with “Meals on Wheels” before moving away to Regina. Carol will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jim (Sharon) Hingtgen of Weyburn, and their children: Scott (Shannon Morrison) and Tianna and Harlyn, Jeffrey (Anita) Hingtgen and Greta, Jennifer Hingtgen (Kyle Kitzul); son, Wayne Hingtgen (Barry McKinnon) of Sechelt, BC, daughter, Shirley (Greg) Barry of Weyburn, and their children: Matthew Barry (Lauren Bruce) and McGinnis, Kyle Barry (Taryn Murray-Underwood) and Tyler Barry; sister, Jean Flichel; sisters-in-law, Ida Hingtgen and Eileen Colwell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation was held Tuesday, October 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, and the Funeral Service for Carol was held Wednesday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. from Ogema Heritage Hall, with Reverend Sundo Hyun officiating.
