SASKATCHEWAN — Environment Canada has issued a couple of advisories for air quality on Aug. 10.

The first is an air quality warning for communities in 10 RMs. It states wildfire smoke continues to drift across southern Saskatchewan along the backside of a low-pressure system. The smoke will gradually clear from west to east by the evening of Aug. 10 as westerly winds pick up.

The warning has been lifted in Regina and Moose Jaw.

The other advisory is a special air quality statement for communities in another six RMs in eastern Saskatchewan.

"Smoke from forest fires in the northern Prairies has drifted into southern Saskatchewan and is pushing eastward gradually today," says the air quality statement. "Values will gradually increase throughout the day before beginning to taper off in this evening as the plume of smoke moves east into Manitoba."

Environment Canada says air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour.

SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
