ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service says it has been receiving numerous phone calls about the legitimacy of SaskTel workers canvassing door to door.

The EPS said in a news release issued May 8 that it did some investigating and the workers are hired out to offer some upgrades to the Internet and other services offered by SaskTel. They work for a company named Berks and all employees will be identifiable with their SaskTel ID badge number and orange vest.

According to the EPS, if people are concerned, they can contact the local SaskTel Store at 306-634-7388 and provide the badge ID number of the worker at their door, and staff can confirm if they are working with SaskTel.

The canvassing is expected to conclude by May 17.

If anyone has any other concerns, contact the EPS at 306-634-4767.

In other recent police news, two Estevan-area individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants. One of the warrants was not endorsed by the issuing judge so the individual was held in custody and brought to court. Both individuals appeared in Estevan Provincial Court on May 5 and were released later in the day.

Police received numerous calls May 5 in relation to the CP Railway crossing on Kenington Avenue south. One of the stop arms had been damaged and required servicing. Police made CP aware so they could make the repair as soon as possible.
