ESTEVAN — The Estevan Elks Lodge's fundraising golf tournament proved to be a big success for the campaign to bring an MRI scanner to St. Joseph's Hospital.
Lodge representatives recently presented a cheque for $22,000 to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation. The money was raised at the tournament, held July 19 at the Hidden Valley Golf and RV Resort's Hideout Golf Course.
"A huge thank you to the Estevan Elks Lodge No. 113 for hosting a successful golf tournament in support of our MRI for Estevan project," the foundation said in a post on its Facebook page. "Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of all involved, $22,000 was raised to help bring this much-needed service to our hospital. We’re so grateful for your continued support and commitment to health care in our community."
According to the foundation's website, the Together we Will - MRI for Estevan campaign has raised $6,208,389, which is 95 per cent of the $6.5 million goal. The total includes $2 million from Elaine Walkom in memory of her late husband Grant, which kickstarted the campaign.
