ESTEVAN — The new Pebbles to Rocks Day Care in Estevan has a trio of fundraisers planned as it continues to work towards its opening.

The first event will be Aug. 8 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Southern Plains Co-op's Estevan food store parking lot.

The day care will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. They're hoping that people will bring their appetites.

"Every bite supports the daycare with its building, better supplies, brighter learning and more joy," Pebbles to Rocks said in a news release.

An ongoing initiative is the Pebbles to Picasso Art Contest, which is open to all ages and skill levels. Participants may use any art medium or style.

The top 20 submissions will be featured in a live auction at a fundraiser Oct. 4, with all proceeds supporting Pebbles to Rocks. One winner will be randomly selected from all participants and will receive a special prize to be announced on the day care's official page.

Entries are being accepted at the Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre. The deadline to participate is Sept. 22.

The Pebbles to Picasso: Red Carpet Night and Auction will happen Oct. 4 at the Estevan Exhibition Association's building. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Highlights will include a fundraising dinner, entertainment, and silent and live art auctions.

Robert Godfrey will lead the live auction, donating his time and talent to support the day care.

Live entertainment will be provided by Godfrey and Conner Piche, sharing the stage for the evening.

A red carpet dress code is recommended but not required. Tickets are expected to go on sale in late August.

"We are currently accepting item donations for the silent auction and offer various sponsorship opportunities," the press release stated.

"With strong support from the City of Estevan, Southeast Sask Economic Partnership, the Ministry of Education and generous donors, we’ve already raised $1.5 million of our $3.1 million goal. Every dollar from this campaign supports construction, equipment, licensing and startup costs, aiming for opening in early 2026."

"This is our mission, and we are deeply grateful for our community’s continued support in making this vision a reality."

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new day care was held in June.
