MACOUN — Macoun Minor Baseball has received a significant donation as it continues to grow.
The Richardson Foundation donated $25,000 on Aug. 7. In an email sent to SaskToday, Macoun Minor Baseball said it is a “fast-growing,” volunteer-led program supporting close to 60 kids ages four to 11.
The program added it is outgrowing its current infrastructure, and the community “urgently” needed a second diamond, beginning with $24,000 for fencing. It is in Phase 3 of development, with $20,000 in prior investment by local families, donors, community members and volunteers.
Richardson says it is focused on prioritizing support for projects that demonstrate strong backing from the local community.
“Through the Richardson Foundation, the Richardson Pioneer Estevan team was pleased to help get this project across the finish line with a $25,000 donation,” Richardson Pioneer wrote.
The Richardson Foundation says it donates between $1 million and $2 million annually, supporting dozens of community-led projects across Western Canada, focusing on the regions where its customers and employees live and work. More than 30 projects were supported in each of 2024 and 2025, with $630,000 donated.
“Projects like Macoun Minor Baseball align with our commitment to building healthy communities, including supporting local infrastructure and youth development,” Richardson Pioneer said. “These investments allow young people to stay active in their own hometowns and that’s something we are deeply proud to support.”
