ASSINIBOIA - Assiniboia’s own Curtis Nelson recently was recognized by QuantumShift, and attended their seminar.

A rigorous five-day developmental experience, QuantumShift annually challenges Canada’s most promising entrepreneurs to improve their leadership style, inspire their business partners and maximize their growth opportunities.

Nelson is well-known for his hard work and community commitment. He is the general manager of Nelson Motors in the community, and was instrumental in the fundraising and completion of Southland Co-op Centre. He also is dedicated to community causes including the Civic Improvement Association, Smiles per mile annual lotto, and Southern Rebels Jr. B Hockey Club.

While these are well known commitments by Nelson, residents say he is a true community ambassador and will lend a hand, advice or assistance where and when needed, as well as avid support of programs, events and activities in Assiniboia and area.

Nelson said on social media, “Honoured and humbled to be included in this group of business and community leaders from across our great country. Spending a week with this crew was a fantastic educational and self-developing experience.”

“Not sure how I got selected but I got the phone call and was asked if I would accept the nomination, and that if I accepted the nomination I would get put in a pool of entrepreneurs throughout Canada and the top 40 would be chosen from there,” added Nelson.

Nelson also acknowledges that the program is now 20 years old and there are 800 alumni after this year. He was told the companies owned and operated by this group of 800 alumni make up a large portion of the Canadian GDP.

To be nominated, the individual’s business must be growing and sales must be in excess of $10 million dollars annually, explained Nelson.

QuantumShift website outlines their program on their website stating, “A rigorous five-day developmental experience, QuantumShift annually challenges up to 40 of Canada’s most promising entrepreneurs to improve their leadership style, inspire their business partners and maximize their growth opportunities.”

QuantumShift is for CEOs whose businesses are past start-up. They’re innovative, insightful business leaders and ready to shift a enterprise to a whole new level of success.

Candidates are nominated through KPMG Private Enterprise and participants are selected by the Ivey Business School’s Pierre L. Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship. The program explores topics that matter such as leadership, finance, strategy and human resources, while building ongoing peer-to-peer network.
