The Sunrise Early Learning and Teen Support Centre will be celebrating Early Childhood Education Month with an Art Gala and Fundraising Auction event on Saturday, May 27, at the Weyburn Legion Hall.
The theme of the fundraiser is “Enchanted Forest”, it is a black-tie gala that is also an adult-only event. During the evening, Weyburn singer and guitar player Lexie Tytlandsvik will be performing.
The evening will start with cocktails at 5 p.m., supper at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment and the art auction. Tickets for the gala are $40 each or $70 for a couple, with corporate tables of eight selling for $300.
The Sunrise centre is holding the Art Gala to raise funds to have their outdoor play space landscaped and redesigned, for the benefit of the children who go to the day care centre, located in the Weyburn Comprehensive School.
The landscaping and design for the play space will be done by JJ Fisher and crew from Driftwood Irrigation and Landscaping.
The Art Gala will feature an auction of art pieces done by the children of the day care, plus some guest pieces by artists from the Weyburn Arts Council.
A special feature of the event will be a live art creation, created by Regan Lanning, curator for the Weyburn Arts Council. The finished art piece will be auctioned off once it is finished. Some of the children’s art work is on display for the month of May at the Weyburn Credit Union’s art gallery.
The month of May celebrates early childhood education, and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day will be marked on Monday, May 15.
Tickets for the Art Gala are available from the Sunrise centre by calling 306-848-4708.
