KATEPWA LAKE – One never know what is going to cross your path on the way to the lake.
A SASKTODAY.ca reader caught images of this black bear between Indian Head and Katepwa Lake. While driving out to Katepwa on June 24, the bear crossed Highway 56, and carried on its way through a farmer’s field.
Bear sightings are not common in the area, as the source we spoke with noted recalling the last bear sighting in Indian Head being 2018. He did state that the frequency of bear sightings occurs more often in the eastern part of Qu’Appelle Valley.
With bear hunting season taking a break from June 30 to Aug. 25, perhaps this lucky bruin will evade the end of a rifle!
