Flashback – May 5, 1971

Estevan’s award-winning senior twirlers held a “thank you” tea for their instructress Doroty Symons on May 2, 1971, and chose this occasion to present her with a painting signed by as many of her former majorettes as possible.

Estevan’s award-winning senior twirlers held a “thank you” tea for their instructress Doroty Symons on May 2, 1971, and chose this occasion to present her with a painting signed by as many of her former majorettes as possible.

Symons was instructing the baton twirlers in Estevan for the previous 10 years, and her girls have won a number of trophies and awards in international competition.

Canon Watts, former rector of the Anglican Church in Estevan, was on hand to pay tribute to Symons, as well as a number of other local dancers, including Lori Berday, Lynn Fagerheim, Laurie Ross, Verna Clayton and Cathye Friess.
