A fundraising supper will be held to support the cost of a service dog for a local family. Michelle Roemer is organizing the fundraiser for her younger brother Nathan. He has Partial Trisomy 13Q and Partial Trisomy 11Q, an extremely rare chromosome abnormality that creates physical, emotional, intellectual and social challenges.
“Having exhausted all other treatment options, our family remains hopeful that a service dog can change his quality of life and help him grow as an individual and gain some independence,” said Roemer.
“Service dogs are beautiful animals that help people who suffer from ‘invisible’ and ‘visible’ illnesses. With your attendance at this fundraiser we can help bring Scooter home, a $30,000 service dog that will change the lives of my entire family,” said Roemer.
The supper will be held at the Weyburn Royal Canadian Legion on Friday, May 26. There are only 250 tickets available and the tickets cost $25 each.
For additional information, residents can contact Michelle Roemer, or find the Service Dog Fundraiser for Nathan group on Facebook. Roemer can also be contacted if any businesses want to make a monetary or silent auction donation.
