The Weyburn Humane Society is hosting their annual Gigantic Garage Sale in a new venue this year. The garage sale will be at the Weyburn Curling Rink and the hours of operation are noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 12.
For anyone who wants to donate gently-used items to the garage sale, the last drop-off opportunity will be held at the Weyburn Curling Rink from 3 to 7 p.m. today, May 10. Items that will not be accepted include: car seats, clothing, old tube TVs, old computer monitors and mattresses.
The garage sale is one of the biggest fundraising events for the Humane Society that help cover some of the operating costs at their current animal shelter. They encourage residents to drop off items that are clean and in good working order, so that they can be re-sold.
The Humane Society is also selling tickets to their two-minute grocery-shopping spree at the Prairie Sky Co-op Weyburn food store location. Tickets are $5 each and the draw will be made on Wednesday, May 31. There will be volunteers selling tickets at the Expressions clothing store in the Metro Centre on Third Street every day until the draw date. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the Weyburn Humane Society and their new building fund.
The Humane Society is also offering a pick-up service for can and bottle recycling as an ongoing fundraising project. Interested residents or businesses can sign up as a repeat service, or for a one-time pick-up. For more information on the recycling service, residents can contact Randy Bakaluk at [email protected].
