ESTEVAN - A GoFundMe campaign is underway to support an Estevan family facing challenges from COVID-19 and other medical issues.

Rita Lang launched the campaign for her daughter Melissa Slager, who “is in a rough place right now,” Lang wrote.

Melissa Slager has been off work and waiting for two surgeries. Then COVID-19 hit, infecting her husband Scott and two daughters.

Lang noted Scott became so ill he was admitted to hospital and then transported to another medical facility, where he was intubated and put on 100 per cent life support.

From there, he was transported by STARS Air Ambulance to another hospital, to a medical intensive care unit.

He has since passed away.

The money from the GoFundMe campaign will help with funeral expenses and other financial needs.

“Please keep this family in your prayers and close to your hearts,” Lang wrote.

As of Nov. 16, it had raised $7,157 of its $20,000 goal, with 58 donors.
