The grill is hot for the new Comfort Cafe, since they opened in their City Centre Mall location back in April. The Comfort Cafe, owned by Dave and Beverly Katschke, offers a a selection of handcrafted burgers and fries, poutine, pulled pork, homemade soups, fresh baked desserts and many other menu items.
“We always talked about owning a restaurant again,” said Beverly. Dave had owned the Burger Junction in the 1980s, and last year had operated a food truck with a menu that appealed to many people.
Since opening their restaurant, both Bev and Dave have heard a lot of great reviews about their food. They also feel that being located in the City Centre Mall is a good location for the Comfort Cafe, since it is right downtown, has lots of parking for customers, and they have heard that people are happy to see new life and businesses being offered from the City Centre Mall.
In addition to offering ‘comfort food’, the Comfort Cafe also offers an environmental program by using biodegradable cutlery, as well as takeout boxes that are made of bamboo and sugar cane. When building their new restaurant, Dave and Bev made use of as much used equipment and furniture as possible.
The Comfort Cafe is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. They will host their first-ever Mother’s Day brunch buffet on Saturday, May 13, serving 10 hot items, a salad bar and desserts at a cost of $15.
