REGINA - The end of the month marks the return to Regina of the annual event Oktoberfest.
The Regina German Club has announced Oktoberfest is happening this coming Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
According to organizers, Friday night will include a kick-off dinner with a traditional meal (Auftakt), with tickets to be purchased in advance of $25 for members and $28 for non members.
The night ends at 9 p.m. with the Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest contest. The winners will be gifted by donations from the local communities.
Saturday at 2 p.m will be "Oktoberkinderfest", with the street closed for entertainment and family activities including a Bouncy House, Mini Petting Zoo, Balloon Man, and Face Painting.
Oct. 1 will also see a Children’s Corn on the Cob competition at 4:15 p.m., and also an Adult Corn on the Cob contest that is free to enter, with prizes available. There are also both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and plenty of food.
That evening will see a Keg Tapping Ceremony, team challenges, traditional performances, and a live performance from Cornerstone. Also, expect plenty of German cuisine and beverages that night.
