REGINA - Tributes are pouring in on news of the death of Greg Enion, former Director of Education with Regina Public Schools.
Enion had retired in the spring as Director of Education after seven years in that role and 40 years with Regina Public Schools.
Regina Public Schools has released the following statement on Twitter confirming the news:
“Regina Public Schools is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Greg Enion, former Director of Education and long-time employee. Our sincerest condolences to his family and to all who knew him. He was an exceptional educator, leader and friend to many.”
The Regina Public Schools Teachers Association has released this statement on social media:
“Greg was a teacher, principal, superintendent and director within our division. He impacted the lives of many teachers, students and families. The RPSTA worked very closely with Greg for many years and he will be remembered as thoughtful, kind-hearted and respectful man.
“He genuinely cared about the well-being of education, his staff, the students and our communities.
“He will be deeply missed.”
Public Schools of Saskatchewan issued this statement on Twitter:
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Greg Enion, recently retired director of education for @RegPublicSchool. Greg was a great educator who believed in the values of public education. He will be sorely missed. Our condolences to his family and friends.”
Mayor Sandra Masters issued the following statement:
“I am saddened today, as are my colleagues on City Council, to learn of the death of Greg Enion, former Director of Education for Regina Public Schools.
“Greg’s 40-year tenure at the Regina Public School Board, including seven years as Director of Education, along with his role on the School Board / City Council Liaison Committee, meant that many members of Council knew first-hand of Greg’s extraordinary commitment to public education.
“On behalf of City Council, I’d like to offer our condolences to Greg’s family and friends. His contributions to public education in Regina will leave an enduring legacy for years to come.”
