ESTEVAN — On April 29, Estevan Police Service members responded to a report of mischief to a vehicle that occurred sometime during the winter months. The complainant reported several wires cut on the vehicle while it had been parked for some time. The matter is being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
A report was also received of a hit-and-run that is believed to have occurred in a parking lot in Estevan. This matter is also being looked into and police are obtaining video surveillance of the collision.
The same day police received a report of mischief to a vehicle. An item had been thrown at the complainant's vehicle. The matter is still under investigation.
Police also received a report of criminal harassment. The matter is under investigation.
Members responded to a disturbance at a local apartment complex. A tenant and landlord became involved in a verbal disagreement. The matter was settled, and no further police involvement was required.
Police received a report of an individual failing to pay for his cab fare. Police attended, the fare was cleared up by the passenger and no further police assistance was required.
Police also received a report of loud music coming from a residence. Members attended and warned the individual under the bylaw to keep it down so as to not disturb the neighbours.
Police received a report of a suspicious man trying to get someone to buzz him into a condo complex. The complainant did not allow entry and called the police. Officers attended but the man had already moved on as he wasn't located.
Police responded to a report of an unwanted guest at a Westview residence. Members spoke to the individual and sent him on his way home for the evening.
On April 28, a scam was reported concerning a phone number that appeared on the victim's computer screen instructing him to purchase gift cards. The card numbers were provided to the scammer, which completed the scam. The public is reminded not to be tempted by these and other types of scams and to call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or police for advice.
Police also received a report of uttering threats. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received several driving complaints in relation to vehicles with loud mufflers and squealing tires. One vehicle was located and issued several tickets.
