This week has a number of events happening at the Weyburn Comprehensive School.
On Sunday, April 30, the music department is hosting a concert, “Singing is Life”, featuring the WCS Combined Choir, the STARS Show Choir, the Assiniboia Park School Chorus and special guests the Living Skies Barbershop Chorus from Regina.
It is an evening of a variety of music including barbershop quartet music by the special guests. Admission is $10 and the concert will take place starting at 7 p.m. in the Cugnet Centre.
Tonight, April 26, there will be a meeting at 8 p.m. for parents and grads to finalize plans for this year’s Chem Free Grad. Information will also be given out in regards to the complete agenda for grad day, which is Saturday, June 10, this year.
On Thursday, April 27, there will be the Horizon Leadership Conference during the day. Over 200 student leaders from Grades 8-11 will be here to hone their leadership skills.
Speaker Tyler Durman will give a public presentation on his book, “Counterintuitive” on Tuesday, May 2. This 75-minute presentation is a parenting event that offers help, hope and laughter while clarifying the specific struggles like how to deepen our kid’s respect even while we withhold freedom they think they are ready for. Tyler is a published author on a number of topics relating to relationships. The presentation starts at 7 p.m. in the Cugnet Centre.
The Comp is hosting the SHSAA Regional Badminton Championship on Saturday, May 6, and the following week the SHSAA Provincial Badminton Championship. The best high school badminton players will be in town to compete for the gold medals. District badminton is being held in Oxbow this Saturday.
The school is also holding a junior dance on Thursday and as well the school is hosting the comprehensive school principals’ meetings on Thursday and Friday.
