WEYBURN — The Southeast College has been celebrating its classes of 2025.
Three commencement ceremonies were recently held to recognize the grads. The first was held June 2 at the Weyburn branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Two days later, the graduates from Whitewood and surrounding area were celebrated at the Whitewood legion. Finally, on June 6, the college held a commencement ceremony for outgoing students at its Estevan campus.
In a news release, the college said this milestone event marks the culmination of years of hard work, determination and achievement for over 122 graduates, as 32 students convocated from Weyburn, 60 from Estevan and 30 from Whitewood. It’s also a significant event for Southeast College, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
“We are very proud of each and every one of our graduates,” said president and CEO Jody Holzmiller. “We appreciate the time, dedication and sacrifice that our students commit to their education, and are happy that they have entrusted their journey with Southeast College. It really is a tremendous feeling of joy and accomplishment that our board, management and staff share with our grads.”
Six valedictorians spoke over the course of the three commencement ceremonies. For the Adult 12 program, the valedictorians were Nikita Shelly (Weyburn), Janessa Kolenz (Estevan) and Natacia Torrence (Whitewood). The valedictorians for the full-time programs were practical nursing student Tricia Emmel (Weyburn), early childhood education student Rochelle Krahn (Estevan) and continuing care assistant student Jervey Mae Castillo (Whitewood).
The Southeast College offers various programs both off and on campus throughout the southeast region.
