The Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) is prepared to help out with mail and shipping requirements, should a service disruption occur from Canada Post, as negotiations between the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Crown corporation continue to remain in a deadlock.

The STC has a plan to provide staffing and capacity to individuals, businesses and government, so that documents and packages will continue moving in Saskatchewan.

“STC will be there for Saskatchewan people and businesses in the event of a postal strike,” said STC president and CEO Shawn Grice, in a media release. “Our economy relies on the movement of goods between communities and STC is ready to meet that need.”

STC works with its partners, through a network that links 267 communities across the province, offering a number of shipping options. The media release noted there are 62 pickup centres to which pick-up and delivery are available, allowing people who utilize STC’s services to not have to visit an STC agency or depot, to have documents and packages sent to them.

“STC is well known for our passenger services, but for 70 years, we have also connected individuals and businesses with our shipping options,” said Grice. “With points from Creighton to East End, we are here to ensure that packages continue to be delivered in Saskatchewan.”
