CP Police is investigating an incident that occurred Friday morning in CP’s Estevan yard.
“At approximately 8:30 a.m local time an incident involving a train occurred in CP’s Estevan yard,” said CP’s advisor, media relations Salem Woodrow.
“A CP employee sustained injuries as a result of this incident. There are no public safety concerns. An investigation is ongoing,” added Woodrow.
The Kensington Avenue crossing and the 13th Avenue crossing were closed due to this incident. The Kensington Avenue crossing was reopened shortly after, but the 13th Avenue remained closed until Friday afternoon.
“Unfortunately many residents would have noticed this morning that the train crossing was blocked on 13th Avenue due to an incident that had occurred involving the CP train," said Estevan Police Chief Paul Ladouceur. “The police assisted the CP Police with an investigation into that matter.”
The Sister Roddy Road and Kensington Avenue north crossings were not affected.
The CP Police is leading the investigation.
The Mercury will have more details as they become available.
