Athletes from southeast Saskatchewan are competing in a variety of events on Day 2 of the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Estevan.
Team South East remains at three medals, as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. But they hope to add to their total in the athletics competitions this afternoon and this evening.
In female basketball, Team South East dropped a 51-36 decision to Team South West on Tuesday morning in a quarter-final. The South East entry will play Parkland Valley in the fifth place game tomorrow at noon at Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS).
The male basketball team picked up their first win of the Games on Tuesday morning with a 55-50 win over Prairie Central. They will close out their tournament tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. against Team North at ECS.
The baseball team's game against Rivers West started at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The South East entry has already clinched a birth in Tuesday evening's semi-final, but with a win over Rivers West, the South East will take first in their pool.
The female soccer team lost 5-0 to Saskatoon on Tuesday morning. They will return to the field at 4 p.m. this afternoon at Cactus Park, when they will play Team North.
In triathlon, the team of Adah De Leeuw, Mikayla Hack and Josie Andrist finished fourth in the female 12 and 13 team race. (Their time was not immediately available).
Golfers are on the course at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club for the first round. The start of golf was delayed by about an hour this morning due to lightning strikes in the area.
Also, archery continues at the Estevan Archery Club's outdoor range. Athletes are competing in male and female compound, male and female recurve, and the team event.
