The Estevan bantam Bears have won a tournament for the second time this season, as they took top spot at an event in Moose Jaw this past weekend.
Estevan posted a perfect 6-0 record, and their run was capped by a 6-4 victory over the Kindesley Klippers on Sunday.
The first game was a 5-3 win over the Saskatoon Wild Mustangs. Landon Kaban scored twice, while Braxton Dukart, Shaun Von Sprecken and Tyler Saigeon also scored.
Up next was a 10-1 win over the Regina Blues. Zach Gedak and Tate Kasick each had hat tricks for Estevan. Cole Blondeau, Jace Brenner, Kaban and Von Sprecken had the other goals.
The Bruins continued to roll with a 6-3 win over the Swift Current Eliminators to finish the round robin at 3-0. This time it was Saigeon who had the hat trick, while Blondeau also scored twice. Von Specken had the other goal.
Estevan then defeated the Dalmeny Sabres 4-1 in the quarter-finals. Kersey Hollingshead, Garrett Wollner, Kasick and Gedak had the other Estevan goals.
They kept rolling with a 6-3 victory over the Redcliff Grizzlies in the semifinal. Gedak scored twice in the game, and Von Sprecken, Kaban, Nicholas Hins, Colton Pushie and Kaban also scored.
In the final, Estevan led Kindersley 2-1 after the first period on goals by Wollner and Hollingshead, and 3-2 after two on a goal by Saigeon.
Kindersley scored early in the third to tie the game, but goals by Pushie and Dukart gave the Bears their first two-goal lead of the game. Kindersley would pull within one, but Gedak’s goal late in the third put the game away.
Tallan Howie was in goal for all six games in the tournament.
The Bears other tournament win came in December, when they won Estevan’s bantam house tournament.
