Like a lot of teams this year, the Estevan peewee Bear Cats had trouble keeping the Wood River Ice Cats from scoring goals.

The Bear Cats (8-8-5) were outscored 19-6 on the weekend by the 13-2-0 Ice Cats but one of the games was a lot closer than the other.

Saturday saw the Ice Cats jump out to a 4-1 lead on Estevan but the Bear Cats held solid after that, keeping the deficit at three goals the rest of the game. Lauren Hassler and Jordyn Kerntopf scored a goal and an assist each for the Bear Cats. Morgan Kjersem and Kallie MacMillan also scored for Estevan.

Goal scorers weren’t recorded for the Sunday game.

Emmy Rae was in net for both games.

After taking this weekend off the league action, the Bear Cats will be on the road in a couple of weeks, playing at the Swift Current Ice Cats Jan. 26-27.
