The Weyburn Beavers Baseball Club, who play in the Western Major Baseball League, have announced their coaching staff for the upcoming 2015 season.
Phil Curtis will be returning to the club as head coach for the third season. Curtis started his coaching career in Weyburn as the pitching coach in 2012, before being promoted to the head coach position. In his first two years as head coach, he has led the team to a franchise record in wins for a season, and earned a berth in the 2014 playoffs.
Joe Sergent will be joining the team as the assistant coach. Sergent is currently the head technical director at the Absolute Baseball Academy in Calgary. Sergent played 12 seasons of professional baseball at various levels, pitching more than 800 innings. His career ERA is 3.95 with a record of 64-33. Last season, he coached the Junior Dinos in Calgary to a record of 58-17, winning two tournaments, and finishing third at provincials.
Chris Manning will not be returning to the Beavers this season. He has taken advantage of an opportunity in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada.
