Estevan’s Jeremy Swanson went from rolling his vehicle over in turn two at the Estevan Motor Speedway at the end of the street stock car feature race to winning the special DARN-TV Dirt Kings shootout race in a very short period of time.
On Saturday night, Swanson edged Gregg Mann in the first ever event, which saw the winner get $500 U.S. money from the sponsor, after a mild rollover did less damage than one might have thought. Mann won the street stocks feature earlier in the night.
Saturday was the first night of the Border City Dirt Wars, with special attention paid to hobby stocks but the weather forecast scared a few drivers away and the races didn’t start until 45 minutes at the 7 p.m. scheduled green flag due to rain in the Estevan area that abated just in time to get racing underway at all.
Minot, N.D.’s Robby Rosselli won the sport modifieds feature, David Rieks of Webster City, Iowa won the hobby stocks feature and Weyburn’s Tyler Wagner won the A-modifieds.
Sunday night is scheduled to be the second and final round of the Dirt Wars, with the green flag scheduled to fly at 7 p.m.
