Mark Rumsey (7), pictured here against Weyburn earlier this season, has committed to play for the University of Saskatchewan.

The Estevan Bruins have announced that forward Mark Rumsey has committed to attend and play for the University of Saskatchewan.

Rumsey led the league in goals with 39 and was third in points with 76 in the SJHL this season. He also recorded the most power play goals scored with 16.

Currently, Rumsey is second in playoff scoring with six goals and six assists in nine postseason games.

“Mark has been a key player for us all season and his offensive numbers speak for themselves,” said Bruins head coach and general manager Jason Tatarnic. “Mark has scored some important goals for us this season, but he has also been a player that has been used on the penalty kill.

“Mark has continued his offensive game throughout the playoffs and has been a key part of us advancing to the SJHL final. Mark has the skill set to be a great university player and we wish him all the best at U of S.”

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound forward from St. John’s, N.L., played for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before joining the Bruins this season.

The Huskies’ current head coach is former NHL coach Mike Babcock.
