The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins defeated the Melfort Mustangs 3-2 Tuesday night in Game 3 of their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semifinal series.
Melfort still leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.
Turner Ripplinger opened the scoring with a short-handed goal 7:20 into the first period. But just 27 seconds later, Zach Anderson notched a power play goal for Melfort to tie the game.
Tanner Manz restored the lead when he scored with 3:42 to play in the stanza.
Tristyn DeRoose’s goal 11:40 into the middle frame added to the lead, but Colin Schmidt scored with 2:56 to play in the period to pull Melfort back to within one.
Neither team managed to score in the third.
Grant Boldt made 16 saves in the victory, but he came up with some big stops, including a couple early in the second when the Bruins were on a power play.
Noah Giesbrecht stopped 19 of the 22 shots he faced for Melfort. Shawn Parkinson came in after DeRoose’s goal, and stopped all 14 shots he faced.
Game 4 will be played Wednesday night in Estevan. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
