The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins squandered a 4-2 lead in the third period and lost 5-4 in a shootout to the Yorkton Terriers on Wednesday night at Affinity Place.

Kaelan Holt had two goals and two assists for the Bruins, while Hayden Guilderson also scored twice and added a helper for the Black and Gold.

Holt's first goal with 3:48 to play in the first period opened the scoring, and was the lone goal of the opening frame.

Cody Dubas and Evan Nicholas scored in the second period to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead. Nicholas is the younger brother of former Bruin captain Nolan Nicholas.

Holt scored his second of the game with 79 seconds to play in the second to tie the game, and Guilderson scored with 10 seconds to play in the period to put the Bruins back in the lead.

Guilderson scored 2:09 into the third to double the Bruins advantage, but Matthew Jones and Karstin McDonald scored for Yorkton in the final 11 minutes of the frame to send the game to overtime.

The five-minute extra frame solved nothing, even though the Bruins had a power play. In the shootout, Holt opened the scoring, but it would be the only goal the Bruins would get in the penalty shot contest. Jarid Mohart and Jones scored to lift the Terriers to victory.

Matt Lukacs stopped 25 shots for the Bruins. Joe Marcouiller registered 51 saves for the Terriers.

Goalie Bo Didur, acquired by the Bruins earlier in the day from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League, dressed as the backup to Lukacs, but didn't play.

The Bruins will return to the ice Friday night against the Battlefords North Stars.
