Bruins cut series deficit in half with win over Hawks

The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins picked up their first win of the post-season on Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory over the Nipawin Hawks at Affinity Place.

The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins picked up their first win of the post-season on Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory over the Nipawin Hawks at Affinity Place.

Kaelan Holt redirected Charles Manley's point shot 9:09 into the third period to snap a 1-1 tie. Then Darcy DeRoose scored an empty net goal with five seconds remaining in the game to clinch the victory.

Zach Douglas had the other goal for the Bruins, a marker of the 6:02 mark of the second period that gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Evan Mignault tied the game with less than three minutes remaining in the middle frame.

Daniel Wapple stopped 27 shots to get the victory in net for the Bruins. Kristian Stead made 25 saves for the Hawks. 

The Hawks lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. 

The Bruins will look to even the series on Wednesday night in Game 4 at Affinity Place. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
