The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins had to work some overtime Friday night but still came up with a crucial victory in Weyburn.
The Bruins (30-18-3-2) edged the Weyburn Red Wings (27-22-4-1) 5-4 in a shootout Friday in Weyburn. Estevan took a 4-1 lead into the third but allowed three late third period goals to send the game to overtime.
Jake Tesarowski and Michael McChesney scored in the shootout with no Red Wings getting the puck behind Matt Lukacs.
The Bruins are six points up on the Red Wings in the Viterra Division standings.
TJ Irey, Zach Goberis, Jerzy Martin and Tesarowksi score in regulation for the Bruins, who fired 47 shots in regulation and overtime on Weyburn netminder Arik Weersink. Lukacs stopped 28 Red Wings shots during the game.
The Bruins’ next action is Tuesday at Affinity Place against the Notre Dame Hounds.
