The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins are planning a few events prior to the start of their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League quarter-final series with the Humboldt Broncos.

The club will host a skills competition and playoff pep rally March 9, starting at 1 p.m. at Affinity Place. Admission will be free to the public.

Categories for the skills competition include hardest shot, fastest skater, most accurate shot, best puck control and a breakaway/shootout contest.

Players will be divided into two teams. The hardest shot, fastest skater and accuracy shooting will be for selected players, the other two categories are team events.

Fans can join the Bruins for a free community skate following the skills competition.

Other highlights will include a poster making contest and a fathead auction. The auction will have large player faces attached to sticks. A silent auction will be used to purchase each player’s likeness.

Playoff tickets will also be available for purchase.

A supper with the Bruins will be served at the Beefeater Plaza from 5-7 p.m. with a pasta buffet. Fans will be able to meet the Bruins and get an autograph.

The Bruins have also finalized their schedule for their series with the Broncos. Games 1 and 2 will be March 15 and 16, respectively, at Affinity Place. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

Games 3 and 4 will be March 18 and 19 in Humboldt.

Game 5, if necessary, would be March 22 in Estevan at 7:30 p.m., followed by Game 6 March 24 in Humboldt and Game 7 March 26 in Estevan.
