Bruins win Game 1 over Kindersley

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins drew first blood in their playoff series with the Kindersley Klippers, winning 3-1 at Affinity Place.

The Bruins got all their goals in a busy second period, with Kaelan Holt, Jayden Davis and Zach Goberis shorthanded as the marksmen. Michael McChesney picked up a pair of assists in the game, and Matthew Chekay had an assist in the first goal in his first game since Jan. 20

Bruisn goaltender Bo Didur stopped every shot except for a power play deflection from Nikolas Malenica in the third period. The Bruins fired 29 at Kindersley goalkeeper Justen Close.

In the other series’ tonight, which were all in the first game of their respective series’,  Nipawin defeated Flin Flon 5-1, the Battlefords outscored Weyburn 5-1 and Humboldt beat Melfort 7-2.

Game 2 is Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Affinity Place. The series shifts to Kindersley Tuesday and Wednesday.
