The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins wrapped up the regular season Saturday night with a 5-3 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings at Affinity Place.

Will Koop opened the scoring for the Bruins with five seconds to play in the first period.

Sean Olson scored on a two-man advantage for Weyburn early in the second, and the game remained tied until late in the second, when Bryce Platt tallied to restore the Bruins one-goal lead.

Isaiah Thomas and Michael McChesney scored for the Bruins in the third to give the Black and Gold a 4-1 advantage, but Connor Pyne and Jordan Kazymyra responded for Weyburn to pull the Wings to within one again. Kazymyra’s goal came with 54 seconds to play.

Thomas added his second of the game into an empty net to round out the scoring.

Grant Boldt stopped 16 shots for the Bruins for the win. Cody Levesque stopped 35 for Weyburn.

The Bruins finished the season with a 31-22-3-2 record, and won the Viterra Division title for the third straight year.

While the Bruins had the seventh-best record in the league during the regular season, they will be the third-seeded team in the quarterfinals because they won the division.

The Bruins will face the Humboldt Broncos in the league’s quarter-final series. The first two games will be March 15 and March 16. Both will be in Estevan.
