The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins had their first minor bit of adversity in their home opener but they responded well, coming from behind to win their first game of the 2017-18 season.
Down 2-1 to the Melville Millionaires entering the third period at Affinity Place, the Bruins notched a couple of power play goals in the first half of the period by Michael McChesney and Isaac Embree, and then McChesney added an empty net goal to seal the game 4-2 for the Bruins. Aigne McGeady-Bruce scored the first goal of the game for the Bruins.
Matt Lukacz stopped 16 of 18 shots in the victory in front of a crowd announced as 1,162.
The Bruins' next action is Saturday night in Melville. They then travel to Kindersley and the Battlefords next Friday and Saturday before the SJHL Showcase in Saskatoon the following week.
