Carnduff Red Devils advance in senior hockey provincials

The Carnduff Red Devils have advanced to the senior B south final in provincial play. Carnduff defeated the Rocanville Tigers 7-2 on Saturday night to win their two-game, total-goal series 11-5.

Carnduff defeated the Rocanville Tigers 7-2 on Saturday night to win their two-game, total-goal series 11-5.

Derek Cooney and Jake McMillen each had two goals and two assists for Carnduff, and Trevor Geiger also scored twice. Matthew Audette also scored.

The game was tied after the first period, but then the Red Devils had four goals in the second to pull away in the game and the series.

The Redvers Rockets and the Wawota Flyers were eliminated from provincial play on Saturday night.

The Rockets defeated the Theodore Buffaloes 5-4 in Redvers, but lost the two-game, total-goal senior C south semifinal 10-9.

Brady Gaudet scored twice for Redvers. Ben Johnstone, Wyatt Garagan and Drew Haff also scored for Redvers, who trailed 2-0 after the first period, and by four goals in the series. They rallied on multiple occasions to pull within one, but couldn’t generate the tying goal. 

The Wawota Flyers dropped a 6-5 decision to the Craik Warriors in Wawota, and lost the two-game, total-goal series 16-8.

Riley Riddell and Ryan Taylor each scored twice for Wawota, and Kent Sauter also scored.
