Thanks to a big win over the Carlyle Cougars, the Carnduff Red Devils have extended their lead in first place of the Big Six Hockey League.
After only leading 3-2 after the first two periods Saturday, the Red Devils (5-1) scored three third period goals to win 6-2 over Carlyle (1-4).
Brandon Trask ended the game with a hat trick, while Justin Smith added a pair of goals and Matt Audette added a single. Cooper Fox scored both of Carlyle’s goals.
The Redvers Rockets jumped up into a tie for second place with their 9-5 win Saturday over the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings. Nine different goal-scorers hit the mark for the Rockets (3-2). Dakota Rose, Jarvis Ducharme and Brady Gaudet each had a goal and three assists. Devin Cobbold had a pair of goals for the Wheat Kings (2-3).
Another team in a tie for second place, the Midale Mustangs, got a 2-1 win in Caryle Friday. Brad Tomiski’s goal at 8:19 of the third period for Midale (3-2) broke a tie in the game.
The Wawota Flyers are the other team tied for second (3-0). The Bienfait Coalers (2-2), Yellow Grass and Oxbow Huskies (2-3) are tied for fifth. With Carlyle in eighth, the Arcola/Kisbey Combines (0-4) are in the basement.
Friday will see Wawota travel to Oxbow, Redverse in Carlyle and Midale at Arcola/Kisbey. Saturday, Yellow Grass is at Carlyle and Midale’s at Carnduff and Sunday, Wawota is at Yellow Grass, Bienfait is at Arcola and Redvers is at Carnduff.
