The annual charity golf tournament and fundraising dinner for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation will be held Friday, July 14 at the Weyburn Golf Club.
Weyburn Security will present the event. “Our company is passionate about supporting the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation,” said Jim Onstad of Weyburn Security. “I have first-hand experience with understanding the value of a hospital in our community and knowing what financial commitments are required in order to function well.”
“We are looking forward to an entertaining day on the course with our host, Angust McJagger,” said Dale Renz, tournament co-chair.
As Glasgow Golf Network’s chief correspondent, Angus and his camera crew will be on the course all day to document the tournament and hand out the haggis with golfers. Angus also isn’t shy about dishing out some golf tips and offering constructive criticism on your swing and your tartan.
Out on the golf course residents can expect several challenges including longest drive, closest to the bedpan, and chances to win the cash prize for a hole in one.
“For those not able to be with us on the golf course, a limited number of dinner tickets are available,” said Al York, tournament co-chair. “The evening will include an always fantastic meal from the Weyburn Young Fellows Club, followed by a video presentation of our day on the course and our exciting live and silent auctions.”
Event emcee will be three-time world improvising champion and star of CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant show, Donovan Workun (who looks a lot like Angus) (@AtomicImprov) and CTV’s Graham Neil. In addition to the entertainment provided both on the course and throughout the evening, special guest Brett Jones, a former Weyburn local who now plays for the New York Giants of the NFL, will be attending the supper.
“Together with the generous continuing support from Weyburn Security, we have numerous returning sponsors already committed. There are still openings for hole sponsors as well as many other ways to get involved with this amazing event,” said York. A full list of sponsors and further information can be found at www.wdhf.ca/2017_Golf.
The Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation are now raising additional funding for the construction costs of a new hospital for Weyburn. The new facility will require much in the way of improved, state-of-the-art equipment.
