Cole Fonstad selected for Top Prospects Game

Estevan's Cole Fonstad has been selected to play in next month's Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game. Fonstad, who is in his second season with the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Prince Albert Raiders, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign.

Estevan's Cole Fonstad has been selected to play in next month's Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game.

Fonstad, who is in his second season with the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Prince Albert Raiders, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign. He has 11 goals and 39 points in 32 games so far this season, after registering 11 goals and 26 points in 69 games last season.

Fonstad played his minor hockey in Estevan until the end of his second bantam season. He was selected in the first round, fifth overall, by the Raiders in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

He spent the 2015-16 season with the Moose Jaw Generals of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, and played one game that season with the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins, in which he scored a goal. 

The Top Prospects Game will be played Jan. 25, 2018, in Guelph, Ont. It features the top 40 players in the Canadian Hockey League who are eligible for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
