The Comp Eagles senior girls played in a tournament over the weekend, and will host one last home tourney before taking part in the playoffs, which will also be held in Weyburn.
The senior girls had a good weekend overall in Estevan, despite being their first games after taking two weekends off due to February break.
On Friday night they won their game against Indian Head, putting them in the semi-final Saturday afternoon. The senior girls lost a tough game against Notre Dame in the semis, and then lost to Estevan in the bronze medal game.
This weekend, March 9-10, the Eagles girls will host a tournament in the Cugnet Centre. The Eagles play Friday at 5 p.m. against North Battleford, and Saturday at 11 a.m. versus Yorkton, and then against Swift Current at 7 p.m.
Playoffs for the senior girls begin the weekend of March 16-17 in Weyburn, as they will host all of the 5A rural schools: PA Carlton, PA St Mary's, Yorkton, North Battleford, Swift Current, Notre Dame and the Comp Eagles.
The Weyburn Comp Eagles senior boys basketball team travelled to North Battleford over the weekend. They played three games, but the storm shortened the tournament.
The Comp Eagles defeated Prince Albert Carlton 75-52, and then beat Lloydminster 86-68 before suffering a defeat by Moose Jaw Central, by the score of 83-71.
The Comp Eagles junior girls hosted a district playoff game on Thursday, and narrowly lost to the Estevan Elecs by the score of 42-39. This was their last game of the season.
The freshman boys also played in districts on Thursday, going to Estevanand winning both games to claim gold, their first medal of this season. In the first game, they beat Moosomin and the final was against St. Michael.
