The G.F. Kells High School girls’ volleyball team has found success in their first weekend of play earning first place in a 12-team tournament – Mega Volley – hosted by Carlyle and Arcola. The team’s success is anticipated to build this year coalescing with the hosting of Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association (SHSAA) Provincials set for Nov. 17-18.
The Cougars went undefeated in the tournament which featured teams from Arcola, Rocanville, Radville, Midale, Ogema, Lampman, Estevan Intermediate, Weyburn Intermediate, Fillmore, Moosomin, and Kipling.
The team, coached by Trent Johnson and Amy Jackson, saw close battles with a few teams throughout the weekend, but earned first place in the final against Rocanville in two sets.
Tier 2 champions were the Midale Mauraders who took on the Arcola Panthers in the final.
